Chromebook Self-Insurance
When receiving a Chromebook, students can pay an annual Chromebook Self-Insurance fee of $15.
This webpage outlines coverage and possible charges for repairs. Students who do not want to protect their device must submit the opt-out form posted below.

For Chromebooks that suffer major damage:
The student is responsible to pay a $35 deductible for the cost of the first repair.
For subsequent major damage, fees are assessed by the school's IT Repair Specialist and billed in full to the student.
Chromebook Insurance does not cover a lost or stolen Chromebook. The student is responsible for the full Chromebook replacement fee.
Technical issues with a student Chromebook not resulting from student damage are fully covered by the school.
Manufacture defects are fully covered by the school, and all warranty issues are handled by an IT Repair Specialist.
Minor repairs are generally fully covered by Chromebook Insurance, with an IT Repair Specialist making the final determination.
All Chromebook repairs and service must be completed by Londonderry Middle School Technology Staff.

Examples of out of pocket repair costs with no self-insurance coverage:
Most major Chromebook damage is non-repairable, or repair costs would equal or exceed the vaule of the device. For example repairing a cracked Chromebook screen would cost between $200-$250 and the cost of a new Chromebooks is approximately $200-$250. Most individual internal components of Chromebook are non-replaceable and would require replacement of all components at a cost equal to the value of the device.

Paying Fees for Deductibles or Repairs
All fees due for deductibles and repairs for a damaged device should be paid in a timely manner.
All questions regarding payment for repairs must be directed to the Assistant Principal for your child's team.
