Laptop Self-Insurance

When receiving a laptop, students have the option to pay a one-time Laptop Self-Insurance fee of $35. This webpage outlines coverage and possible charges for repairs. Student's who do not wish to protect their laptop for 4 years with the 1 time $35 fee will need to submit the self-insurance opt-out form posted below.

Laptop Self-Insurance Coverage

Laptop Insurance covers (with limitations):

• Accidental Damage

• Liquid spills

• Cracked Screen

• Fire, Flood, Natural disaster

• Power surge

• Technical Failure

• Manufacture Defects

Insurance coverage details & limitations:

• For laptops that suffer major damage:

  • 1. The student is responsible to pay a $50 deductible for the cost of the first repair.

    2. For subsequent major damage, fees are assessed by the school's IT Repair Specialist and billed in full to the student.

• Laptop Insurance does not cover a lost or stolen laptop. The student is responsible for the full laptop replacement fee.

• Technical issues with student laptops not resulting from student damage are fully covered by the school.

• Manufacture defects are fully covered by the school, and all warranty issues are handled by an IT Repair Specialist.

• Minor repairs are generally fully covered by Laptop Insurance, with an IT Repair Specialist making the final determination.

• All laptop repairs and service must be completed by Londonderry High School Technology Staff.

Examples of repairs with a $50 Deductible:

• Damaged screen $50 first incident

• Damaged keyboard $50 first incident

• Spilled drink on device resulting in damage $50 first incident

• Damage to the frame of the laptop $50 first incident

Lost or broken Charger

• Lost charger $25 (students may purchase their own compatible charger)

Examples of out of pocket repair costs with no self-insurance coverage:

• Damaged screen parts and labor: $200-$250

• Damaged keyboard parts and labor: $200-$250

• Spilled drink on device resulting in damage to internal components is non-repairable: $450 full replace of device

• Damage to the frame of the laptop is non-repairable: $450 full replace of device

Paying Fees for Deductibles or Repairs

• All fees due for deductibles and repairs for a damaged device should be paid in a timely manner.

• All questions regarding payment for repairs must be directed to the Assistant Principal in your House Office.

• Fees may be paid:

  • 1. with a check payable to the Londonderry School District
